6th Grade Social Studies

The Rise of the Nation-States: 6th grade Social Studies students are kicking off a mini project today on Nation-States in Miss Allen's class.

Students will research different Nation-States over the next two days then they will present the information to their classmates.




8th Grade Math

Mr. Doidge's 8th Grade Math students are showing what they know about qualitative data and evaluation functions.

Students are using the PEMDAS acronym to remember the order of operations.




7th Grade Science Students are being "Cheeky"

7th grade science students are being "cheeky" today as they explore cheek cells in the lab.
Mr. Benish had students take a cheek swab, put the sample on a slide with methylene blue added, then use the microscope to locate the cheek cells
Students then drew and labeled illustrations of the cells.




Checking for Prior Knowledge

Mrs. Givens uses color coded cards to check the level of her health student's prior knowledge about today's lesson.
As she asks students the questions, students raise a card to indicate what is true our false.

The questions will be asked again at the end of the lesson to compare prior knowledge and post-lesson understanding.




WWII Journalist - Filmmaker Project

Students in Mrs. Yoder's 6th grade social studies class get ready to kick off a new project today where they will be a journalist or filmmaker during WWII.

They first completed a T-chart to share what the already new about how the Allies won WWII and what they needed to know still.




Enrichment Activity for Middle School students at Life Care Center

. Lakeland Middle School students visit residents at Life Care on Fridays along with Mrs. Gillespie, 6th Grade Teacher Ms. Harris and Ms. Harris' dog, Louie.

Students spend time with the residents by conversing, playing games, painting fingernails and more.
